Are you traveling to Seattle, WA soon and looking to have a fun sleepless summer trip?
I couldn’t help myself- I love the movie, Sleepless in Seattle, so of course it had to be in the title! Seattle is one of my favorite cities I have had the privilege to visit. It’s gloomy weather just makes me feel like I’m on set of Twilight. UGH! It’s definitely on my top ten list of cities to visit due to its rich history, artitecture, weather, and of course my amazing friend , Laryssa who lives there.
Here is a list of things you must do when you visit seattle to have a sleepless summer in Seattle:
1. Take the Ferry to Bainbridge Island
This first one is probably a no brainer but going to Bainbridge Island should be on the top of your list. There’s something about being outside on the ferry with the wind in your hair that just puts you in a good mood. When we got to the Island, we went to Doc’s Marina Grill, where we ate the BEST seafood. Mouth is watering just thinking about it!
2. Visit Pike Place Market
This is one of the most iconic farmers markets you’ll ever visit. Even if you don’t buy anything it’s a great way to spend time with the person/person(s) you are traveling with. FYI-The flower bouquets here are to die for!
3. Ride the Seattle Great Wheel
When was the last time you took a ferris wheel ride? This is such a cute idea to do with friends to take photos together. This is also such a cute date night activity to do with a partner after a romantic dinner on the harbor.
4. Visit a Farmer’s Market
There are farmers markets everywhere and chances are you will run into one accidenetly. We got some goodies for our home cooked meal that we were making later that night.
5. Go to a Cocktail Bar
Highly recommend a rooftop bar that overlooks the city. There’s no better way to admire the space needle. I always feel like I’m living in a movie when I’m overlooking a city at night with all the lights twinkling. Simply the best! We went to the Mountaineering Club in University district
6. Visit a Local Coffee Shop
You are in the mother state of coffee!! No need to explain further.
7. Go to a Marina
This is why I love Seattle so much, you are in one of the biggest cities in America but it’s on the water. I feel like I’m at home in Florida. I love the water and looking at all the boats in the marina. Highly recommend you go to Wild Salmon Marina, and buy fresh seafood.
8. Make a Seafood Meal At-Home
We made a home cooked meal the last night we were in Seattle and it was so fun. Nothing better than cooking with your friends! We cooked live dungeness crab following this recipe, shrimp and a crab cake with sauteed squash and zucchini and roasted potatoes.
This is what I would recommend you do in Seattle to have a sleepless summer in Seattle.
